黃得時先生(1909-1999)為臺北帝國大學(國立臺灣大學前身)東洋學科畢業,嗣後出任該校首任教務長,並擔任中文系教授以迄退休,獲贈榮譽教授頭銜,與臺灣大學有深厚淵源。黃得時自青年時代即積極參與藝文活動,尤其將畢生心力投注臺灣文學研究、臺灣民俗研究與臺灣文獻之保存,堪稱臺灣文學研究的先驅者;他的生平、著作與貢獻都非常值得深入探討,目前也已有若干單篇論文與學位論文以他為研究對象,但大都將焦點放在他的生平事蹟以及和當時文學運動的關係,偏向於個人傳記與文學史的研究,因此本文將以黃得時對民間文學與古蹟文化的觀念為討論重點,以《臺灣的孔廟》、《臺灣遊記》二書及其他相關文章為範圍,探討黃得時對臺灣民間社會的關懷與貢獻。
Prof. Huang De Shi(1909-1999)was graduated from Taipei Empire University(the predecessor of National Taiwan University). He was the 1st Dean of Studies in National Taiwan University and a Professor at the Dept. of Chinese Literature until he was retired from NTU. And he obtained the honor of Honorary Professor of NTU. He had deep origin from NTU. Huang was active at literate events since he was very young. He threw all his passions to search in Taiwan literature, Taiwan folklore and Taiwan phi logy. He was good enough to serve as a pioneer of Taiwan Literature Research. It is worth to study deeply in his biography, books and contributions and there are some related dissertations and degree papers. But they are focused on his lives and what he did with the Taiwan Literature Movement in Japanese Occupied Time. They belong to individual biography and literature history studies. So this paper will focus on Huang's researches and contributions to folk literature & monument culture. It will discuss on his two books Confucius Temple in Taiwan and The Travel s of Taiwan in order to understand how Huang concerned about Taiwan folk society and his contributions to the folk aociety.
