A Newly Developed Fresh Market Tomato Cultivar -Hualien AVRDC no.5

A new variety of Tomato Hualien AVRDC No.5 was bred in June 1990. it is a single cross between CL5915-206D-2-4-0-0 and L4783-S2-3-1-19-0. This new variety possesses the characters of high yield, heat tolerance, anti-mosaic virus, and medium anti-bacterial wilt. Field tests showed that yield of the variety were 56.4 ton/ha and 72.7 ton/ha in early and late summer crop, respectively. It in the northeastern coast of Taiwan, especially in summer crop.
