A new fresh tomato line FMTT795 was developed in 1999 by Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center (AVRDC) after preliminary and advanced yield trials, disease evaluations and seed production tests. FMTT795 was introduced to Hualien District Agricultural Research and Extension Station in 2002 for regional yield trials and fertilizer trials, and was registered in January 18, 2006 as a new variety 'Hualien Asveg 17'. The new variety is a single cross F1 hybrid. It is a vigorous, indeterminate growth habit variety. The fruits are round-shaped, with an average weight of 144 g. The average soluble solid content of fruit is 5.1 °Brix. The fruits are moderate firm and strong against fruit cracking. The new variety is resistance to late blight strain T_1 and T_2, bacterial wilt race 1 and 2, and tomato mosaic virus strain O, OY, 1 and 2. The average yield of 'Hualien Asveg 17' is 48 MT/ha. It is suitable for planting in spring and late summer seasons.
