The school-to-work transition model of liberal arts & sciences (LA&S) college is different to professional school. However, the higher education policies of Taiwan were too relied on vocational and professional logic in recent years. The LA&S colleges sustained structural disadvantage. Based on two large scale data sources, this study tries to explore those issues from the perspective of school-to-work transition. Empirical results show that, the LA&S colleges have the adaptive strength indicated by broader occupations and diversifier types, but weak in indirect school-work correspondence. On the contrast, the professional schools have the strength of direct school-work correspondence, but weak in the adaptive risk. Refer to the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, there isn't only one kind of way to leave the ivory tower. "Community engagement" perhaps is another new possibility.
