以某種護眼複方組合物應用於預防紫外線對白內障傷害的評估

Evaluation of an Eye Protection Complex in the Prevention of UV-induced Cataracts

摘要


國人平均壽命延長,人口結構日趨老化。隨著年齡的增加,人眼水晶體會逐漸發生硬化與混濁。據統計資料顯示,國人白內障六十歲以上罹患率為80%,七十歲以上則高達90%以上,且隨科技發展日趨快速,人眼對於日常生活負擔也日益加劇,尤其是高強度光線的刺激,包含手持式行動裝置、大自然輻射等等,更容易加速白內障的病程與提高白內障發生的機率。因此,本研究之目的在於藉由紫外線B所誘發小鼠白內障,並在誘導白內障前先餵食護眼複方組合物(含熟地萃取物、山桑子萃取物、綠花葉菜苗萃取物、金盞花萃取物、枸杞萃取物與杭菊萃取物)並檢測該護眼複方組合物在預防白內障病程進展之功效分析。結果發現餵食此複方組合物(100 mg/kg. BW/day)能有效維持眼球側面透光程度及透光度與光線穿透率與誘導組有顯著性差異。綜合上述動物試驗的結果顯示此護眼複方組合物有助於預防紫外線照射所導致的白內障傷害。

The average life expectancy in Taiwan is increasing. The natural aging process can cause eye lens to become hardened and cloudy. The prevalence of cataract in Taiwan is approximately 80% in people over 60 years old and 90% in those over 70 years old. Exposure to high-energy light from natural light and smartphones can increase the risk of cataract and accelerate cataract development. The aim of the present study was to investigate the preventive effect of an eye protection formulation (containing Rehmannia glutinosa extract, bilberry extract, broccoli extract, Calendula officinalis flower extract, goji berry extract, and Chrysanthemum morifolium flower extract) in a mouse model of UV-induced cataract. Results showed that oral intake of this formulation at 100 mg/kg BW/day delayed the development of turbidity and maintained the clarity of eyes. In summary, the eye protection formulation may help prevent UV-induced cataract.
