Although technology seems readily available to teachers and students, some teachers seem reluctant to integrate technology into their lesson planning and curriculum. This project will help determine why teachers do or do not use technology in their classrooms. The purpose of this research project was to determine the perceptions and attitudes of teachers in their use of technology in the classrooms. This project will also explore what types of supports or resources teachers perceive necessary to encourage the use of technology, what teachers perceive as impediments to the use of technology in the classrooms. A survey was used on three distinct groups of 60 teachers to investigate how these groups of teachers felt about their use of technology in the classrooms. Test-retest was used to measure for reliability. The results of this study showed that the faculty members feel that technology education is important and that they feel encouraged to use computer technology. Teachers feel that they need more support in using technology in the classrooms. Additionally, teachers neglect to consider computer technology when they lesson plan and are not always comfortable with keeping their clientele on task while at the computer. This study will contribute to inform leaders at each of the sites used for the project in order that staff development and the purchase of equipment are purposeful and directed.
