摘要

由各地蒐集spearmint草之品種共九種，分別加以栽種並作精油之提取及各種物理性質之比較試驗。結果以美國大葉種、日本改良種、臺灣在來種及涼風種等四種，發育較佳，精油含量高，適合本省之栽植。臺灣在來種之精油由減壓蒸溜可分為：terpene, ketone及sesquiterpene等三部份，其主要成份各為(一)-limonene, (一)-carvone及双環性sesqui-terpene等。

Nine varieties of spearmint grass were collected from various parts of the world and cultivated to determ.ine the yield of the essential oil under the cultivation conditions in Taiwan as well as the physical properties of the oils. The results show that 4 varieties (American, Japanese, Taiwan, and ＂Rian-Fong＂ varieties) are suitable varieties to cultivate in Taiwan because they grow faster and gave the oil in higher yield. The oil from Taiwan variety grass contains (一)-limonene, (一)- carvone, and a bicyclic sesquiterpene, etc.
