摘要
Streptomyces sp. 680係自斗六地區之已耕土壤中分離者。此株菌種，在pH 7.0及溫度27°C之條件下生長甚好，並可經浸沉醱酵而生產抗生素No. 680。抗生素No. 680之精製品，呈深紫色。其酸性水溶液呈深紅色，其中性及碱性水溶液，皆呈紫青色。此抗生素對克氏陽性菌之抑制生長力特強，對高等動物本身之毒性作用則甚低。

Streptomyces sp. 680 was isolated from a soil sample of .Tou-liu, Taiwan by authors. A pigmented antibiotic substance, dark purple crystal form, has been isolated. It shows deep red color in acid solution and changes to blue in alkaline solution. It can strongly inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria and slightly inhibit the growth of Gramnegative bacteria and fungi. It differs from the anagolous pigmented antibiotics produced by other species of Streptomyces. In this paper, the physiological and morphological characteristics of the strain, isolation and properties of its product-antibiotic No. 680-are reported.
