甲苯之氯甲基烷化

Chloromethylation of Toluene

摘要


甲苯、甲醛與氯化氫在50~90℃,氯化鋅觸媒存在下、液相反應可得對位及鄰位氯化二甲苯。甲苯、甲醛及氯化鋅之分子比試用8:2:0.5至2:2:0.3,結果以分子比爲4:2:0.5,反應溫度60℃、時間15小時爲適宜。觸媒溶液可連續使用、氯化二甲苯之產率為88.2%、轉化率爲21.0%(對甲苯而言),高沸點物質之生成重量佔消耗甲苯13.2%。在反應添加高沸點生成物、可抑制高沸點物的生成、而提高產品之產率至94.5%(以甲苯爲基準)、高沸點生成物可降至2.8%(對消耗甲苯言)。

Toluene was reacted with formaldehyde and hydrogen chloride, using zinc chloride as catalyst, to convert to xylene chlorides (a mixture of p- and 0- isomers). The preferable conditions were: mole ratio of toluene to formaldehyde to zinc chloride 4 : 2: 0.5, reaction temprature 60°C, reaction time 15hrs. The catalyst solution might be employed successively. The yield and conversion of xylyl chlorides (based upon toluene) were 88.2% and 21.0%. respetcively. The thick bottom liquid (by-product ) with a high boiling point was 13.2% to the toluene consumed. The forma t ion of the byproduct might be depressed effectively by in troducing it to the reaction mixture a t the beginning of the reaction. By this way the yield of xylene chloride could be increased to 94.5%. The weight of the liquid high boiling point was minimized to 2.8%.
