摘要


用三硫化鉬作觸媒,氫化薄荷酮製造薄荷腦,以用三硫化鉬6%,氫氣壓力約80kg/cm^2,溫度在220°C,反應5小時最佳,薄荷腦轉化率最高為54 %, 含有L-menthol 53.82%,D-isomenthol 10.61 % 及D-neomenthol 33.63%,同時有若干生成之薄荷腦被脫水而變為p-menthene,並有少量薄荷酮仍未起反應。反應溫度低時,大部份薄荷酮保持原狀,反應溫度高時,則全部生成之薄荷腦被三硫化鉬脫水而變為p-menthene,繼續再氫化為p-menthane。

Hydrogenation of menthone with molybdenum trisulfide as catalyst is proved to be a feasible process to obtain menthol. The reaction is brought forward under 220°C for 5 hrs, employing 6% catalyst with H_2 pressure 80 kg/cm^2. A conversion of menthol as high as 54% is obtained. The products is composed of 53.82% L-menthol, 10.61% D-isomenthol, and 33.63% D-neomenthol. The balance is menthone which remains unreacted and p-menthene which is interpreted as a dehydration product of the menthol. Temperature should be strictly controlled around 220°C, below which conversion of menthol is very low, while over 250°C the produced menthol will be completely turned to menthene by losing one molecule of water and on further hydrogenation to p-menthane.
