翻譯教學之實作與舉隅-淺談超文本小說《波浪女孩》的翻譯策略

摘要


成為一位優秀的翻譯者是外文系學生的夢想,因此平日在校期間所修習的翻譯課程即成為他們訓練專長的場域。然而在翻譯課中,並沒有很多與市場合作或相關的素材提供學生做為翻譯的實務練習,因此,授課教師如何創造一個平台,藉以提供學生專業的翻譯訓練,遂成為教師最重要的教學目標。此篇論文藉由「影視翻譯與實作」一課之實務練習,授課教師根據學生翻譯遇到的嚴重問題重新設計課程,希冀達到學生學用合一的目的;而課程中進行網路超文本小說《波浪女孩》的翻譯,透過參與翻譯團隊的教師們編輯及修正學生們翻譯的文句,以勘誤和不斷討論校對的精神,讓學生從中習得正確的翻譯技能,尤其是未來面對創作型的市場商品,希望學生能做到「信、達、雅」的翻譯原則。

English major students who plan future careers as translators will take different translation courses in order to master their translation skills. However, it is obvious that there are not many practical materials available to offer them ways of practicing collaboration with real market events. Thus, creating a forum for students to practice translation has become a goal for teachers of translation classes. This paper reports on a preliminary study of the translation problems faced by students in a News Translation and Practice class. By compiling and analyzing the mistakes and problems faced by students in this class, the instructor was able to redesign the course syllabus to help targeted students achieve unison between knowledge and practice. By translating These Waves of Girls, the students learned to apply different translation strategies and knowledge to participate in a real life translation case. We hope through learning by doing, especially with creative work projects, students can not only become more market responsive, precise and professional in the translation field, but also put into practice the ultimate translation principles of faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance in their work.
