摘要

本文旨在探究屏東醫院的創設沿革與影響，特別是在公共衛生事業方面所扮演的積極角色。本文發現，屏東醫院作為屏東第一個近代醫療機構，其創設緣由，其實與殖民政府的防瘡政策有相當關係；隨後，更在防治鴉片吸食與護理人員的培訓方面，取得卓著的貢獻。直到戰後，部分曾在該院服務過的臺灣籍職員，也因此成為屏東各地醫療的要角。就此而言，屏東醫院亦可謂是培育戰後屏東醫療人才的重要搖籃。

This paper mainly to study the establishment and influence of Pingtung Hospital, especially in the active role of public health Pingtung Hospital played. This paper discovered that as the first modem medical organization, Pingtung Hospital's establishment reasons had much to do with the polities of health and epidemic prevention. After that, it contributed a lot to preventing people's smoking opium and training nursing staff. Moreover, after World War II, part of Taiwanese staff who used to worked in Pingtung Hospital became key part of medical treatment in Pingtung. In other words, Pingtune Hospital can be called a vital organization of fostering the top-rank medical staff in Pingtung after War Word II.
