In May 1995 the National Health Insurance (NHI) introduced normal spontaneous delivery (NSD) and other items on a trial basis and is also to introduced the case payment system. The aim of this study is to investigat and understand factors influencing the consumption of medical resources by Transurethral Prostectomy, to provide reference for managing health bodies when deciding policy and to strategy suggestions for hospital managers in implementation of case payment method. Patients characteristics can affect medical resource consumption: t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) shows that age, resource of hospital stay and insurance type affects consumption of medical resources. 1. The older the patient consume medical resources more than the other. 2. Patients admitted on an emergency basis consume relatively more medical resources.
