一般來說,當初原住民迫於原鄉生活機會嚴重不足而遷移至都市謀生,但都市工作環境不僅充斥著歧視、剝削,且昂貴生活開銷和有限社會支持系統,形成原住民在都市謀生的前景未如預期順利,甚而經常面臨諸多的困境與挑戰。基於此,本文主要從兩個面向來探討台灣原住民在都市謀生的艱辛歷程:其一、探究原住民從原鄉至都市謀生所面臨的就業困境、生活難題及福利需求;其二、探析在都市陷入失業、貧窮苦境的原住民為何寧願選擇久居都市而不返回原鄉謀生。然而,為了能夠有系統地深入挖掘都市原住民真正的生活困境和就業危機之癥結所在,本文採質性深度訪談法進行資料蒐集,以期能將資料分析的結果轉化為有助於改善都市原住民之生活困境的政策建議和實務方略。
This article investigated the hardship urban Aborigine faced in making a livelihood in the city, from two perspectives: first, the employment impasse, life issues, and welfare needs they had to deal with from aboriginal hometowns to the city. The second perspective focused on why many of the urban Aborigine, while struggling in the city, chose to stay in the city, instead of returning to their aboriginal hometowns. In order to gain deeper understanding of the determinants affecting their economic plight and employment difficulties, this qualitative research used in-depth interview to collect empirical data, hoping to yield helpful implications for improving their living conditions in the city.
