The literature Review of Adolescent Dating Violence Prevention Programs

Dating violence is a serious and prevalent issue among adolescents and young adults, with about 1 out of 11 female and 1 out of 15 male teens in USA have experienced physical violence perpetrated by a dating partner. Thus, early intervention and prevention of dating violence behavior is imperative. Many adolescent dating violence prevention programs have been developed in recent years. This research has collected the definitions of adolescent dating violence and dating violence prevention programs. Furthermore, this research also has gathered literature of Safe Date Project and prevention programs for high-risk adolescents, sexism and sexual violence. Overall, dating violence prevention programs for adolescents appear to be effective at improving knowledge and attitudinal measures, but are not as successful at improving behaviors, for behavioral change can't be measured in short period of time. Policymakers should provide more resource for educators and program developers to conduct long-term follow-up research.
