The Flower Adornment Sutra(Avatamsaka Sutra, Huayan Jing)is one of the most important Buddhist scriptures. The images of the Vairocana Buddha and the Flower Adornment transformation tableaus developed from this sutra enriched the development of Chinese Buddhist art. Artworks connected to the Flower Adornment Sutra have been an important focus of scholarly attention since the 1930s. Eight of the forty articles written by Yin Guangming concern visual depictions of the Flower Adornment Sutra. This series of studies can provide us with a methodology to observe, comprehend and reflect upon our inquiries into Buddhist art.
