北涼佛教與北魏太武帝發展佛教意識形態的歷程

Buddhist Political Ideology of the Northern Liang and Emperor Taiwu of the Northern Wei

摘要


此文說明的是北涼與北魏太武帝發展佛教意識形態的情形及關係。中國帝王自漢代之後便有使用佛教意識形態治國的現象。到了第五世紀北涼發展佛教意識形態的時間,中國已有兩種佛教意識形態的發展模式。北涼是中國始用後貴霜佛教意識形態發展模式者。北魏太武帝幾次想使用北涼所用的模式,但因儒生崔浩的極力反對,太武帝因此完全沒有機會使用佛教意識形態。也因為崔浩的干預,太武自始至終都發展道教意識形態。我們過去都不知除了儒家之外,中國帝王還有發展佛教及道教意識形態的情形。從北涼及北魏使用意識形態的情況,我們對中國所使用的三種意識形態的發展性質、交涉情形、所屬傳統,甚至鬥爭情況,都能有一些基本的認識。

In the past, scholars have only known about the existence of Confucian political ideology, but not that of the Taoist and the Buddhist. In fact, the Buddhist political ideology was implemented very early on, and by the beginning of the 5th century A.D., there were already two variants of the Buddhist tradition established in China, the Devaraja and the Latter Kushan. The founder of the Northern Liang, Juwu Mengxun was the first user of the Latter Kushan tradition. Emperor Taiwu of the Northern Wei also wanted to use the model of the Northern Liang, but failed because of the intervention of the Confucian scholar Cuihao. As a result, Taiwu used the Taoist political ideology throughout his reign. This paper, therefore, covers discussions of the traditions, implementations, and interaction of the Buddhist and the Taoist political ideologies in the Northern Liang and also the period of Taiwu of the Northern Wei.
