A Multi-Node Handover control scheme for Proxy Mobile IPv6 with Forward Scanning Result (FSR) mechanism

Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6), which is developed by IETF, is a network-based mobility management protocol. In order to improve handover delay time, a fast handover is integrated into PMIPv6 (PFMIPv6) to improve the handover procedure. However, the PFMIPv6 schemes focus on one MN instead of multiple MNs. It is possible scenarios that multiples MNs have similar movement behaviors around the same time. For the individual handover approach, these MNs start the same handover preparation procedure and generate many replication control messages during handover. In this work, a Multi-node Handover Control Scheme for Proxy Mobile IPv6 with Forward Scanning Result (FSR) mechanism is proposed to resolve the above issues. In the proposed FSR, MNs, which move from the same previous to the same new networks around the same time, are formed as one group. Therefore, only one message for handover procedure is needed. As a result, handover signaling cost is eliminated significantly.
