博物館圖書室閱覽服務比較分析

摘要

圖書館因類型不同，其服務對象與功能亦有差異，其中專門圖書館類型又包羅廣泛。臺灣在近20年當中發展出另一種專門圖書館，也就是博物館中的圖書館。專門圖書館的服務型態以服務機構內的員工為主，而博物館中的圖書館，隨著博物館經營管理的重心由傳統的蒐藏研究，轉型至重視展示教育等大眾服務的同時，博物館圖書室的角色與服務是否亦應隨之改變，也朝向服務社會大眾為目標，亦值得我們思考。本文參考並比較國內外數所國立博物館圖書室之閱覽服務後發現，大多數博物館圖書室均對館外研究人員或民眾開放服務，有少數幾所已提供館外人士借書服務，甚至配合博物館展示及博物館屬性推廣閱讀，以協助博物館教育功能之發揮。

Specialized libraries mainly serve the staff of a particular institution. Museum libraries, which have developed in Taiwan over the past two decades, fall under this category. The traditional core functions of museums are collection and research. Museum functions have evolved to include public services such as exhibition and education. Should the roles and services of museum libraries also expand to correspond to these changes in museum development, and should museum libraries offer services to the public? The aim of this study was to compare and analyze library services among national museums in Taiwan and other countries. The results demonstrated that most museum libraries have opened their services to researchers who are not associated with the museum and even to the public. Some libraries even lend books to people outside the museum. In coordination with museum exhibitions and the development of museum publications, museum libraries can assist in promoting the education function of museums.
