The Cooperation between Alexander Hamilton and James Madison

Alexander Hamilton and James Madison both are founding fathers of the U.S., they had played important roles in the U.S. early founding history. They had cooperated to push and to participate in the Constitutional Convention, and in the process in pushing states to ratify the Federal Constitution, they had kept close communication. They had also cooperated to write articles later known as the Federalist papers to support the Federal Constitution. When Hamilton assumed the post of Secretary of Treasury, Madison, as the leader of the House of Representatives, started to lead opposition to Hamilton's policies, and combined with Thomas Jefferson to organize the Republican Party to oppose Hamilton. The U.S. academic groups usually paid much attention to the hostile relations between Hamilton and Madison, neglected their once cooperated phase of history. This article attempts to discuss the cooperating relations between Hamilton and Madison, to understand its reason, process, their positions, and its importance in U.S. founding history.
