摘要

Dr. Augustine Henry was the first person to publish a checklist of Taiwanese plants in the 19th century. There were 1428 vascular plants on his checklist and more than 1500 specimens were examined or quoted. In the following years, some of the scientific names were changed or corrected, and some new taxa were published based on these collections (specimens), therefore making it quite difficult to correctly identify the corresponding names on the checklist. In an effort to validate the names on Henry's checklist during a 2001~2008 survey, we found some voucher specimens in the following herbaria: BM (Natural History Museum, London), K (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London), LE (Komarov Botanical Institute, St. Petersburg), and P (Laboratoire de Phanérogamie, Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris), and we indeed found that some names or taxa had been changed. The main aim of this project was find, examine, and identify all of the specimens on Henry's checklist. In addition, digital images of these specimens were taken. It is hoped that the revised checklist will provide a full picture of the lowland flora of Taiwan in 1854~1895. Herein we provide the first part of the revision, containing 78 images from 75 specimens/sheets belonging to 42 different taxa/species. They are accompanied by the original sequential numbers, scientific names, collectors, localities, collection numbers, collected herbaria, currently accepted scientific names, and digital images.

十九世紀末的奧古斯丁．亨利醫師在檢視過（或引用）至少1,500份採自臺灣地區的植物標本後，發表首份較完整的臺灣植物名錄，其中包括1,428種維管束植物。在經過100多年後的今天，由於學名的變動、分類群的再確認甚至新種的發表，本名錄上的物種與今日吾人所使用的名稱可能已經不同。經著者在2001∼2008年前往檢視蒐藏在英國倫敦自然史博物館植物標本館（BM）、英國皇家邱植物園植物標本館（K）、俄羅斯聖彼得堡科馬洛夫植物研究所植物標本館（LE）及法國巴黎自然史博物館植物標本館（P），確實發現該名錄上列舉的標本，許多分類群已被訂正或學名必須更改。由於十九世紀末（1854~1895）台灣低海拔植物資訊的缺乏，故我們希望能找到該名錄上所列舉的全數標本，檢視且訂正之，以期對該時段的植物相能有更進一步的瞭解。本文列出名錄中已找到的標本共75份（張）計78張影像分屬42種（分類群），並依據名錄上原有的序號、學名、採集者、採集地、採集號、蒐藏之標本館、目前使用的學名及標本影像等呈現之。
