It is well-known that Vatican II was a milestone in the history of Roman Catholicism in the 20th century. One of the achievements made in the conference was the demand that Roman Catholicism should be seriously open to other Christian denominations as well as to the other World religions. This paper assesses the Protestant theologian Paul Tillich’s reaction to Vatican II to highlight the achievements of Vatican II.
