Genomic Alterations of Extrectra Cellular Genes as Diagnosis Markers for Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

摘要

Background: Head and neck cancer is a significant public health concern and approximately 95% of head and neck cancer represents squamous cell carcinoma. Microarrays have provided a high throughput method to monitor global gene expressions and built up invaluable information and knowledge, which are essential to the discovery of new insights into the mechanisms common to cancer cells, resulting in the identification of unique, identifiable signatures and specific characteristics. Methods: By bioinformatics approach, there were 73 differential expressed genes clustered from 3 public microarray datasets and 30 genes, out of 73, identified in extracellular region. Conclusions: These findings suggested that an enhanced understanding of the basic biological mechanisms of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) will likely facilitate development of improved methods for liquid biopsy in early detection.
