This study investigates the contemporary development and management of Taiwan's higher institutes of technology. Qualitative research methods and document analysis were employed in order to further understand these issues. Twenty-four institutes of technology were sampled. The results indicated that, due to a series of educational evaluations conducted by the Ministry of Education, the majority of institutes have obviously improved their quality with regard to campus facilities and faculty proficiency. These institutes were also seen to have made great progress in their collaboration with industries for the purpose of better practical research. This study proposed several suggestions for long-term development policies, faculty development, and strategies for integrating instruction research and development.
