The Historical Geography of Chuan Tse Shan

This article presents a study of Chuan Tse Shan historical geography. It includes: (A) His great achievement in the study of the Shui Ching Chu (Commentary On The Rivers Of China). His novel ideas can be seen in the articles on the Tsam River, the Le River and the Le Kar River in his seventh revived work on rivers. Other essays in the Tse Shan Kit Chi Ting Collection, the epilogues in his other books and some in the Tung Chan Letters also show his great achievement in the study of Shui Ching Chu Therefore it is justificable to say that he is a great master in the study of Shu Ching Chu. (B) Verification of the 36 counties of the Chin Dynasty. According to Su Ma Chien's Records, Chin Shi Huang Ti(秦始皇) followed Li Shi's suggestion to divide the empire into 36 counties. Chuan Tse Shan regarded that Ban Koo and Pei Yin had neglected the origin of the divison. Therefore he made a revision of it and made many discoveries concerning Chin Yuan, Kuang Young Kim Chung, Hui Chi and Tsu Chuen. What a wonderful discovery! (C) Arrange in order the 13 departments of district governor. Chuan Tse Shan corrected the mistakes of the 13 departs of district governors in the Examination of suspicion, History Of Han, for example, the errors of officialdom in the government. For in the history of Han, there were often mistakes in the location of counties, for example, to err A for B, or vice versa. Tse corrected all these.
