Faculty performance may be enhanced through use of various faculty development programs that fulfill major training functions for institutional development. A conscientious evaluation of training opportunities may help school leaders make better decisions when preparing the faculty workforce. The purpose of the study was to investigate the faculty training needs at a private post-secondary vocational college in Taiwan. By comparing faculty members' perceptions on importance of skills and skill levels, this study tried to assess the gap in improving performance for faculty development. Based on the email addresses listed in the faculty directory, a total of 143 surveys were distributed to full-time faculty members of a private post-secondary vocational college. 53 surveys were received for a return rate of 38.4%. In the skill areas of teaching, research, and personal growth, this study found that the most needed skills for faculty development focused on "lecture and large group presentation skill", "professional publication", and "team work skill."
