Carbon composite has a variety of excellent mechanical properties including light weight, high strength and high rigidity resistance. In recent years, due to the global trend to reduce carbon emissions, composite materials have been used by a broad variety of industries ranging from aviation, automotive to transportation industries, in their products or components to achieve weight reduction and energy efficiency. However, traditional manual lay-up molding can not meet the market demand, As such, there is an urgent need for manufacturers to introduce automation and mass production into composite material manufacturing. This article will introduce various automatic composite material molding methods, such as weaving, lay-up, filament winding, etc., and the focus will be placed on the emerging braiding process for composite fibers and their advantages and according application industries.
