Challenges and Growth Strategies of Taiwan's Machinery Industry under the Pandemic New Normal

摘要

COVID-19肺炎疫情對全球經濟發展與產業運作均造成重大影響。包括市場需求、供應鏈運作、消費與工作模式，都引發顯著變化，並逐漸形成後疫時期新常態。面對後疫新常態下的全球經濟與產業發展環境變化，臺灣機械產業也需要透過多元化策略，突破發展障礙，持續提升競爭力。本文重點在說明疫情對臺灣機械產業出口金額與產值影響。並探討在疫後新常態，機械產業發展面臨的重要議題；以及加速機械產品與智慧科技融合，透過智慧化、數位化產品、服務與創新商業模式，提升產業與企業競爭力的途徑。

The COVID-19 pandemic has major impacts on global economic and industrial developments. It causes significant changes in the market demand, supply chain operation, consumer behavior and our daily working style; it also becomes to form new normal in the post pandemic era. Considering the global economic and industrial environment changes in this era, Taiwan's machinery industry needs a diversity strategy to overcome these challenges and keeping our global competitiveness. In this article the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the export value of Taiwan's machinery industry is explained and the following important issues we need to face in the new normal, such as the ways to accelerate integration of mechanical products and smart technologies. Some methods to enhance the industrial competitiveness from AI technologies, digital products, services, and innovative business models were also being discussed and provided.
