現今工業物聯網應用中,相較於有線通訊,無線通訊因建置及維護費用低廉而逐漸成為主流。發展工業物聯網應用多年的場域,因無線通訊技術快速進步及多期程的系統建置,常常混雜多世代無線通訊設備。在此狀況下,雖有較先進的無線通訊技術,頻譜使用效率仍因必須滿足多世代相容性而無法被充分提升。在本文中,我們比較行動通訊及Wi-Fi於多世代混雜環境中之傳輸延遲、延遲抖動和封包送達率。上述效能指標為評估聯網技術導入先進工業自動化及自主化應用可行性之重要參考。數據分析顯示,當混雜大量舊世代設備,Wi-Fi於傳輸延遲、延遲抖動和封包送達率表現不及行動通訊系統,且舊世代設備數量愈多時,效能差距愈大。
In today's industrial IoT applications, wireless communication has gradually become the mainstream due to its low cost of construction and maintenance compared to wired communication. IoT applications have been developed for many years, due to the rapid advancement of wireless communication technology and multi-stage system construction; multiple generations of wireless communication devices are often mixed. In this situation, although there are more advanced wireless communication technologies, the efficiency of spectrum usage cannot be fully improved due to the need to meet compatibility among multi-generation devices. In this article, we compare the transmission delay, delay jitter and packet delivery rate of mobile communication and Wi-Fi in a multi-generational mixed environment. The above performance indicators are important references for evaluating the feasibility of introducing networking technologies into advanced industrial automation and autonomous applications. Data analysis shows that when a large number of old-generation devices are mixed, the performance of Wi-Fi in transmission delay, delay jitter and packet delivery rate is inferior to that of mobile communication systems, and the greater the number of old-generation devices, the greater the performance gap.
