良渚文化玉器分期初探
Preliminary Study of the periodization of Jade Articles of the Liangzhu Culture

Famous for its prosperous jade carving, the Liangzhu culture 良渚文化 lasted for almost one thousand years (from 4,900 to 3,900 years ago). As there is little certain about the development of jade carving of the Liangzhu culture, we can only regard the jade articles of that culture as relics of the period. This article periodizes the tombs of Lingzhu culture on the basis of the periodization of Liangzhu potteries. As jades and potteries are frequently found in the same tomb, the dating of the jades is based on the dating of the potteries. The author of this article chooses cong 琮 , bi 璧 , huang 璜 , trapezoid plaque and awl-shaped ornament as standard jade articles and divides them into relics of Early, Middle and Late periods . He also discusses the special features of the jade articles of each period.
