The relation between Emperor Song Gaozong and his two subjects, Li Gang and Zong Ze, is an important topic of research in the political arena of the earlier stage of the Southern Song dynasty. This article is divided into four parts, discussing the divergent views and disputes between the Emperor and Li and Zong from 1126 to 1140. The author points out that Song Gaozong caused the tragedy of these two patriotic statesment because of the autocratic Chinese traditional politics.
