Hong Kong is located at the mouth of the Pearl River, Since ancient times, it belonged to the same cultural circle of the Pearl River delta. It was also influenced by the cultures of the Yangzi River valley and the Yellow River vatley. This view is supported by the findings in Hong Kong of painted pottery, white pottery, glazed pottery (primitive pottery), stone dagger-axes, yazhang牙璋 and bronze ware. The valleys of the Yellow River, the Yangzi River and the Pearl River are centres of ancient culture. They had the same trend of development, never stopped interflow and showed affinity with each other, which resulted in a historical tradition based on the Shang-Zhou culture.
