明太祖的經史講論情形

Ming Taizu's Engagement in Classical and Historical Discussion

並列摘要

This paper studies how the Ming founder, born to a humble family and receiving no formal education in his youth, came to be so versed in quoting the Confucian classics and the dynastic histories to support his arguments and strengthen his points of view about government. By studying the intellectual background of Ming Taiz's early activities and how he engaged himself in discussions about the classics and histories throughout his entire career as a rebel leader and as an emperor, including the organization of his colloquia and the ways he responded to his discussants, the paper argues that he became what he was because of his lasting interest in the classical and historical literature and his seriousness in understanding them for the practice of government. This in turn influenced his conception of government and had impact significant on the building of the Ming government institutions and the formulation of early Ming policies.
