摘要

本研究利用2010至2015年台灣上市一般產業公司的資料，檢驗公司董事會多樣性與產品多角化和國際多角化程度的關聯。既有研究已探討董事會多樣性對公司價值、績效與若干經濟後果指標的影響，本文則由公司多角化與國際化的進程中有可能需要來自較為多樣化的董事會以增進董事諮詢功能的角度來申論與檢驗公司董事會多樣性的影響。透過相關分析與多重迴歸估計，實證結果發現董事會多樣性程度正向影響產品多角化程度及國際多角化程度，董事會的多樣性程度愈高，公司的產品多角化程度與國際多角化程度也會愈高。實證結果隱含未來公司在選任董事成員時，宜將成員的多樣性納入考慮，有助於公司多角化策略的進行及提升公司向國外拓展的機會。

Based on data of listed nonfinancial-firms on the Taiwan Stock Exchange, this paper examines linkage between the degree of corporate board diversity and firm's product versus international diversification. Existing research focused on examining effects of board diversity on performance, risk and other economic consequences, less discussion paid attention to how board diversity affects product and international diversification that may be fostered by diversified knowledge, experience and resources by a diversified corporate board. Evidence shows that overall index of board diversity increases product versus international diversification, sub-index such as busyness and independence also increase the degree of product versus international diversification.
