Although communication has become an important academic discipline in greater China, very little has been written about Chinese communication journals and research. This special issue, which includes an academic dialogue and three research articles, focuses on the development and growth trends of Chinese communication journals and research over the past decades. Journalism and communication scholars were invited to present their empirical analyses of the current status, research trends and enduring problems of communication journals and research in greater China. Implications of these trends and problems are discussed, with the goal to improve the quality of communication journals and research and promote their healthy development.
