The Convergence of Diversity and Innovation in Interaction

並列摘要

This issue consists of six research articles focusing on how the media changes society and how society changes the media. In this issue, five articles discuss how the media changes society from ethnographic, political, and cultural perspectives. The topics covered by these five articles are diverse, such as the interactions between the mass media and the ethnicity society in rural areas; the interactions between local contentions and the international media; the international news coverage of China-related opinion polls; the transnational consumption and cultural imagination of fandom culture in Taiwan; and the creative industry centers in Taiwan and mainland China. One article focuses on how society changes the media using the cases of three international news agencies. We invited sociologist, Michael Schudson, to engage in dialogue with Yu Huang. They discuss communication research from the sociological approach. Moreover, The Communication Forum by Yan Yan and Shuhua Zhou in this issue discusses whether media bias is an objective presence or a subjective perception.
