40 years ago, China began to reform and open up economically, politically and socially. At around the same time, communication was introduced to China. Over the past 40 years, mainland Chinese communication researchers have also become more and more internationalized with the help of peers in Hong Kong and Taiwan. In this issue, we invite Prof. Paul Lee to embark on an academic dialogue with Prof. John Pavlik, discussing the impact of new technologies on journalism. We also publish three research articles and one bilingual research article, a thought-provoking examination of media credibility in the public mind.
