Androgen-Producing Adrenocortical Carcinoma: A Case Report

摘要

Adrenocortical carcinoma is an extremely rare malignant tumor. Symptoms may result from hormonal (cortisol, androgen, estrogen or aldosterone) oversecretion, the mass effect or/and metastases. Complete tumor removal offers the best chance for long-term survival; otherwise, the estimated 5- year survival rate is less than 30%. We reported a case of left androgen-producing adrenocortical carcinoma with the initial presentations of hirsutism and hair loss, who received left adrenalectomy. In a series of follow-up studies for 10 months after tumor resection, serum dehydroepiandrosterone-sulfate (DHEA-S) and testosterone remained in normal range without evidence of local recurrence or metastases on image survey.
