摘要

星雲大師繼承了太虛大師的人生佛教思想。他立足於現代人生，結合現代人的根機，將佛教的思想和精神以現代人熟悉和樂於接受的方式表達出來，因而他極力宣導和實踐具有人間進取性、積極樂觀性、喜樂性、利他性、普濟性、生活化、大眾化、事業化、國際化等特徵的現代人間佛教。與印順法師偏重於理論論證和辨析性的人間佛教風格不同，星雲大師的人間佛教思想更為傾向於綜合、圓融與實踐。星雲大師的人間佛教思想是以人乘佛教為基礎，以大乘般若空觀中道思想為眼目，以大乘佛教法界圓覺學尤其是禪淨二宗為歸趣，以建立人間淨土為目標。星雲大師是以人間佛教融貫五乘佛教，並且試圖將人間佛教的精神落實到現代社會普通一般人的生活之中。

Venerable Master Hsing Yun is the successor of Master Taixu's philosophy of rensheng fojiao (〞Human Life Buddhism〞). His teachings are established in a contemporary context and integrates the needs of modern society by presenting the philosophy and spirit of Buddhism in a way that is familiar and welcomed by people today. Thus he has strongly advocated for and actualized the propagation of Humanistic Buddhism, which possesses the qualities of being progressive, proactive, optimistic, joyful, altruistic, universal, relevant, popularized, organized, and international. As compared to Master Yinshun, who advocated a Humanistic Buddhism that focused on theory and analysis, Venerable Master Hsing Yun emphasizes integration, harmony, and practice. Venerable Master Hsing Yun's philosophy of Humanistic Buddhism has rencheng fojiao (lit. translated as 〞the Human Vehicle of Buddhism〞) as its foundation, the prajna wisdom in the Mahayana teachings of emptiness and the middle way as its guidelines, Mahayana practices-particularly in Chan and Pure Land-as its roots, and establishing a Pure Land on Earth as its goal. As such, Venerable Master Hsing Yun harmonizes the Five Vehicles and brings the spirit of Humanistic Buddhism to modern society by being relevant to the daily lives of ordinary people.
