摘要

中國佛教要在社會中發揮全方位的正能量作用，就必須現代化。中國佛教現代化有四個基本的方面，即佛教文化社會功能定位現代化、佛教事業發展現代化、佛教管理現代化、佛教教育和人才培養的現代化。星雲大師人間佛教對推動中國佛教的現代化，具有重要的引領和示範作用，包括：第一、對佛教文化社會功能定位認識的提高澄清作用；第二、對佛教組織管理體制的規範完善作用；第三、對佛教教育和人才培養的推動提升作用；第四、對佛教事業發展的拓展示範作用。

Chinese Buddhism strives to play the role of a directing compass for positive potential in contemporary society, which in turn leads to a necessity to be modernized. The modernization of Chinese Buddhism has four fundamental aspects, namely the modernization of the social function and localization of Buddhist culture, the development of modern Buddhism, the modernization of Buddhism management, and the modernization of Buddhist education and fostering of talents. Venerable Master Hsing Yun's Humanistic Buddhism plays an important and exemplary role in leading the actualization of Chinese Buddhism's modernization. This includes: 1) in the understanding of the social potential of Buddhist culture and its localization, as well as improving the clarity in its actions; 2) in the area of Buddhist organizational management, institutionalizing regulations in monasteries and improvement of their actions; 3) in Buddhist education and personnel training in order to promote and enhance their activities and practice; 4) in the expansion and development of Buddhist undertakings to the extent that they become a role model for right action.
