This paper proposes that the popularization and secularization of Buddhism are problems that have emerged, and are also related to the heritage of folk traditions in Chinese Buddhism. This phenomenon is due to the fact that these factors have already profoundly penetrated into the beliefs and rituals of practitioners in Chinese Buddhism. Therefore, the re-examination of our conceptual understanding and the protection of folk cultures is needed. This paper offers thoughts and principles in the examination of Humanic Buddhism regarding popularization.
