摘要

中央地質調査所王家慶先生於台南縣甲仙鄉東方約一公里地方的中新世，十六份頁岩地層中，採到數塊石蝦的化石，該化石經筆者細心修理後，計得二十個近於完整的頭胸部，腹部及一些不完整的零星碎片。本論文鑑定該化石爲一新屬新種，定名謂王民蛄蝦台灣種Wongastacia taiwanica, n. gen. et species，本屬與南極大陸上部白堊紀所產之Hoploparia〔標準種：Hoploparia stokesi（Weller）〕相似，共爲腎形蛄蝦科之一員。

The present report describes a fossil lobester: Wongastacia taiwanica, n. sp. et genus from the Kuechulin Formation (Miocene) of southern Taiwan. This rare fossil is the first specimen that found from this island and contributes an important paleontological studies to this area. This new fossil lobster is morphologically very similar to that of the genus Hoploparia M'Coy ﹝type species: Hoploparia stokesi (Weller)﹞, an Upper Cretaceous form from Antarctic region. It is possibly a new member of the same supergeneric category. i. e., family Nephropidae and subfamily Homarinae.
