Little is known about the natural history of R. taipeianus. We observed the population of R. taipeianus in a rice paddy at Tsyr-hwu, Taur-yuan Hsien in 1983. In first observation, 8 male R. taipeianus were found sleeping in burrows under boundles of rice straws, which were about one meter in length and 0.6 m in width. Foam nests were found in and around the burrows at the same locality in second observation. Egg deposition of R. taipeianus in Tsyr-hwu began between late January and early Febuary, while that of the population in Mu-cha, Taipei Hsien began in December. The occurrence of R. taipeianus at Tsyr-hwu is the southernmost distributional record now known.
