摘要

The level of health literacy (HL) among older adults in Taiwan is not widespread and remains unknown. An integrated model of HL proposed by European HL Consortium comprehensively interprets the relationships between HL and the predictors of HL of older adults. To explore the influencing factors among older adults, participants aged sixty five years and older, without cognitive impairment were recruited for completing the self-administrated questionnaire, the mean age is about seventy five years, averages HL score is thirty point eight three, indicating a problematic level of HL. Hierarchical regression models identified that age older than eighty five years, ignorance of insurance status, and dominant language of Hakka or Taiwanese were significant predictors of HL among the older adults. Our results provide a reference for early identification of older adults at a high risk for poor HL in the field of clinical geriatric nursing.
