With the "end of metaphysics", theology and philosophy of religion has to find a new mode of thinking outside onto-theology. By the discovery of a new definition of phenomenon and phenomenality, Marion-develops a "phenomenology of givenness". The notion of givenness provides a horizon wider than Being and being objective, so that the revelation of God can show itself as a "saturated phenomenon". The status of the positive "subject" has to be turned into the "receiver" or "the gifted" for the full appearance of a phenomenon. Marion takes gift as a prototype of givenness because the syntax of the gift structure mirrors that of givenness. By examining Marion's notion of gift, we could find the internal relationship between his phenomenology and theology.
