The Dilemma of Human Value in the Bible

並列摘要

This essay discusses the difference between ontological Noumenology and axiological Noumenology. They answer the respective questions of "what is" and "what ought to be". In the Book of Genesis in the Bible, God created the world in six days. At the end of each creation event, a value judgment was pronounced and repeated seven times: "that it was good". While often overlooked, this pronouncement is significant. Not only does the Bible explain the existence of the world ontologically, but affirms its value by describing it as noumenologically meaningful. However, the value of man is subsumed under the absolute Noumenon, God himself. From within the religious confines of Christianity, this essay tries to examine the dilemma of the value of man in the value structure of the Bible. It also tries to develop new notions of Noumenology, the Noumenon of Goodness and Original Purity.
