＂A Preface to Transgression＂ was first published in Critique (No. 195-6), in response to Georges Bataille's Transgression. It reveals an important theme of modern French thoughts, which can be found in Maurice Blanchot, Bataille and Foucault, i. e. a counterstrike against the suppression or negation by Enlightenment or reason. The so-called ＂non-rational＂ matters are given a forum for discussion, where anything＂ transgressive＂ would pique interest. Naturally, ＂holiness＂ is one topic that draws attentaion.
