On October 15th, 2014, the School of Liberal Arts, Institute for the Study of Christian Culture at Renmin University of China and Hong Kong Institute of Sino-Christian Studies organized a one-day seminar "In Dialogue with Jürgen Moltmann: Beijing Summit". Professor Jürgen Moltmann, the famous contemporary German theologian who has influenced a generation with his "Theology of Hope" and "Theology of Ecology", presented a paper on the theme of "Theology of Hope and the Future of China" on the afternoon of the 15th. Moltmann argues that in Christianity, whose center is the resurrected Christ, there has been a spiritual heritage with a focus on the future and on the compassion of Holy Spirit. This spirituality can transcend secular utilitarian love. This spirituality believes that the end is also the beginning of a new life and seeks for a relationship and balance among all beings of the universe, trying to bring all things back to order to live in peace with each other. In the battle against the current ecological crisis, we should make good use of this spiritual heritage. Six scholars responded to his talk and engaged in a heated discussion with Professor Moltmann from various perspectives. The following is the detailed record of the dialogue, it is anticipated that further discussion will be developed on this basis.
