The aim of this essay is to discuss the methodological integration in recent biblical studies. David JOBLING demonstrates the definition of a mode of production in terms of Norman GOTTWALD' sproposal, and analyzes modes of production in premonarchic and monarchic Israel. After these, JOBLING makes reference to works of Carol MEYERS and Naomi STEINBERG, and points out that the role of the family should be stressed in the analysis of the premonarchic Israel, and women tended to lose legal status because of the coming of monarchy. JOBLING also discusses Mieke BAL's interdisciplinary framework. In sum, JOBLING argues that the integration of literary, social-scientific and feminism methods will make biblical studies having more vibrancy to continue.
