This paper considers the influence of ancient Egyptian culture on the formation of Hebrew faith. During the New Kingdom of Egypt, the Semitic ethnic groups, including the early Israelites, had a close geographical relationship and frequent cultural exchange with Egypt. The Amarna reform which took place during the reign of Pharaoh Akhenaten in the 18th dynasty was the first attempt to establish monotheism in human history and it greatly inspired the emergence of authentic monotheism as the cornerstone of Hebrew faith. On this basis we can surmise the influence of Egyptian religious culture on Hebrew faith and law, with the Law of Moses at its core.
